Paul Wasicka is one of those young poker professionals who are determined to be as successful as the poker giants that they look up to. He may have only started playing professional poker in 2004 but he has already more than US$7,300,000 prize winnings as of 2007 which he has generated from live poker events alone.
Born in Dallas, Texas on February 17, 1981, Paul Wasicka was first employed as a bartender and then, as a restaurant manager before he became a poker professional. In 2004, he participated in an underground tournament that was held in Denver, Colorado. Since then, he became very interested in getting involved with the professional poker world.
Paul Wasicka, who currently resides in Westminster, Colorado, joined the Fall Poker Classic on September 26, 2004. It was the first time he cashed in the money in a major poker event. He only earned US$875 but the mere fact that he had a money finish was already a victory in itself. In October 2005, this poker professional once again entered an event featured at the Fall Poker Classic wherein he also cashed in the money.
In April 2006, Paul Wasicka was seen at the Five Star World Poker Classic tournament. It was the World Poker Tour that conducted such tournament and it was the first time that Paul Wasicka became visible in a World Poker Tour event. This poker professional was just so lucky to win US$146,460 at such a young age. When poker fans and poker giants saw how he played, they were sure that Paul Wasicka would be one of the most successful poker professionals in the near future.
2006 was a great year for Paul Wasicka. He became one of the participants of the No Limit Hold'em Championship game that was held as one of the events of the 37th Annual World Series of Poker. He only ended up as a runner up to poker professional Jamie Gold. Nevertheless, he was still able to take home US$6,102,499. We just don't know how Paul Wasicka was able to absorb the fact that it only took him a single poker game to become a multimillionaire.
In 2007, the most notable victory of Paul Wasicka occurred in March when he won first prize at the NBC National Heads Up Championship, earning US$500,000. Among the poker giants that this young poker professional was able to defeat were Chad Brown, Shannon Elizabeth, Nam Le, T. J. Cloutier, Joe Hachem, and Eli Elezra.
In the same year, Paul Wasicka became a fourth placer in the Los Angeles Poker Classic tournament. Again, it was the World Poker Tour that conducted such tournament. It was held at the Commerce Casino, located in Los Angeles, California. The prize money that Paul Wasicka took home was US$455,615.
Indeed, Paul Wasicka has achieved so much as a poker professional at such an early age. And despite the fact that he is now being looked up to, he still continues to look up to poker giants John Juanda, Le, Phil Ivey, J. C. Tran, Patrick Antonious, and Phil Hellmuth as his inspirations.
Paul Wasicka was born in the 1980s but at such a young age, he has already started to make a name for himself. Not only does he always emerge successful in the poker events he participates in, poker has also enabled him to become a multimillionaire.
